Hi there 👋
Welcome to my webpage! If you're here, you're likely interested in learning more about me. My name is Mher, and I am a dedicated Software Engineer.

As a committed problem solver, innovative builder, and passionate technology enthusiast, I bring essential skills to the field of software engineering. For the past eight years, I've served in various roles across different companies, where I've had the opportunity to work alongside many talented individuals. My contributions have impacted products used daily by millions, including notable apps like the Amazon Shopping app, Amazon Care app, One Medical health app, and the Glovo food delivery app.

What I find most rewarding about my career is the ability to develop solutions that substantially enhance the quality of life for users and offer significant time savings. For example, imagine a scenario where my solution saves five minutes for each of one million users every quarter. That's equivalent to saving 38 years' worth of time collectively per year. The significance of this impact is what I find profoundly rewarding.
My Story
I have graduated from the State Engineering University of Armenia in 2009. I received a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a field of study Design and Technology of Electronic-Computing Devices. Frankly speaking, I was a terrible student my motivation was to graduate university 😅

After earning my degree, I initially joined our family business in metalworking and rubber manufacturing, rather than pursuing a career in software engineering. Having worked there part-time during my university years, I was familiar with the operations and genuinely interested in the business. However, after several years, I realized that I wasn't finding the mental satisfaction I craved in my work. To fill this void, I began reading programming books and creating simple desktop games like tic-tac-toe and hangman. By the end of 2014, my passion for coding had grown immensely, and I resolved to become a Software Engineer. To achieve this, I dedicated more than 80 hours a week to my new pursuit. My typical day involved learning from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM, spending time with my family between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, working from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, enjoying more family time from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and then returning to learning from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Over the weekends, I immersed myself in coding. I know it sounds awful but for me, it was a fascinating experience. The people who were most affected by my new hobby were my wife and my son, as the number of our outdoor activities dramatically decreased. After a year I released my first application to the App Store and even earned some money due to in-app purchases. It was the beginning of my journey as a software engineer.

For me being an engineer means being a professional problem solver. Programming languages, frameworks, programming paradigms are just tools that we use to solve a problem. I don't split engineers into Frontend, Backend, iOS, Android, I don't think that tools define engineers. Engineers are defined by a willingness to solve the problems in the most efficient(if it's possible) way. In most cases there is no silver bullet, what works today might not work tomorrow, so quite often it's about finding the right tradeoff.

I deeply believe that technology has a huge potential to increase the quality of life. Especially in healthcare by providing more personalized treatment and gaining information on patient's conditions in real-time. I'm looking forward to the future where gadgets and treatments will help persons with limited abilities to experience a better life.
